The end of an era…<\/p>\n
I’m working on shutting down my colo server this week. \u00a0I’ve been running this server and others like it since EfNet IRC war and hell days. \u00a0It was early 1997 when I took the reigns of the.mafia and began running dual servers in a world of excitement. \u00a0We pulled our weight with the best of the best back then. \u00a0Changing over to x-mafia and starting the crimelords server was a new splinter in life. \u00a0We turned more towards protecting channels and offering mob like protection services…and then EfNet got all smart on us with service accounts that did exactly what we were doing – but for free for people. lol \u00a0So much for extortion right!? \u00a0So one by one – we started shutting down shell server hosts. \u00a0We moved skinheads.net to it’s own server and Nutter took over the reigns .. That was really the only webserver we ever hosted and Nutter and I knew that the old owner of the server (DarkMan) was not going to do us any favors. \u00a0That’s when we figured we could run the show ourselves…so we did. \u00a0I also moved off the WSN server to create Crimelords.net around 2000.<\/p>\n

Since those days, everyone has mostly drifted away but still we bump into one another on the internet and it’s like old times. \u00a0We still hold the old irc channel thanks to a few old schoolers like Psy and Merchant…irc opers that never die right!? \u00a0But with the fee’s building up every month – and only like 3 people who ever even log into the colo server anymore..and that IS counting me – there just isn’t a point to keep it up.<\/p>\n

You’re reading this on the new and improved site right now actually. \u00a0I’ve already migrated this blog over to the new hosting site. \u00a0Way cheaper – much easier and just time to make the change. \u00a0I’ve enjoyed my times as a colo owner – and all the crazy shit we got into in the early days. \u00a0Maybe I’ll come back around and write a few short stories as I can recall them about some of the things I’ve seen….then again, not sure if the statute of limitations is up just yet…haha. \u00a0I’ll check on that and get back to ya.<\/p>\n

Cheers for the server – although it may get shut down, I never will…still alive and kicking on the interwebz.<\/p>\n
